Movilidad Urbana, Compartida y Mobility As A Service: Revisión bibliométrica

Abstract:

The work Urban, Shared Mobility and Mobility as A Service: A Bibliometric Review delves into the complex and rapidly evolving field of urban mobility. It is a comprehensive bibliometric analysis that reflects the growing importance of this area in the context of modern research, driven by the challenges and opportunities presented by rapid urban growth, environmental sustainability concerns, economic efficiency, and social equity considerations. This field has become increasingly vital as cities expand and the world becomes more urbanized, making the efficient and sustainable movement of people within urban areas a key concern for policymakers, urban planners, and researchers alike. The study employs bibliometric tools to provide a detailed analysis of academic research on urban mobility. This includes examining impact indicators, analyzing co-authorship networks, and exploring keyword trends. The use of these tools allows for a thorough understanding of the state of research in this field. The findings indicate that there is a mature academic interest in urban mobility, as evidenced by the increasing volume of publications and research outputs. However, the study also points out that despite the growing body of work, there is a need for further research and specialization. This highlights the dynamic nature of the field and the ongoing need for new insights and solutions as urban environments continue to evolve. The methodology of the study is comprehensive, involving a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to sustainable shared urban mobility and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) models. By employing both qualitative and quantitative methods, the research provides a nuanced view of the existing literature. This approach includes gathering and analyzing data on authors, scientific journals, institutions, geographical regions, keywords, and citations. The data leads to the creation of knowledge network maps, which are instrumental in identifying dominant themes in the field and suggesting potential directions for future research. A significant portion of the study is dedicated to the breakdown of the search methodology and the results obtained. This includes specifics such as the number of publications, citation counts, leading journals, prominent universities, and contributing countries. The study utilizes network visualization maps through VOSviewer software, offering a detailed analysis of the research landscape. The period covered in the study spans from 1966 to 2023, comprising a total of 5,970 publications from the Web of Science database. This extensive timeframe provides a historical and current perspective of the field, showcasing the evolution of thought and research in urban mobility. One of the key findings of the study is the growing interest and development in the field of urban mobility, with a particular emphasis on Mobility as a Service (MaaS). MaaS is recognized as a significant evolution towards integrated and multimodal transport services. Its objectives include optimizing mobility, reducing congestion, and promoting sustainable transportation options, all facilitated by technological advancements like mobile applications and sensor technologies. The research identifies leading countries, institutions, and journals that have been at the forefront of this field, thus laying a solid foundation for future studies and research trajectories. The study also delves into the origins of the publications and the research areas they cover, highlighting the organizations and regions that have made substantial contributions to the field. It assesses the most influential authors, their impact, and their contributions to the urban mobility literature. An analysis of keyword frequency provides insights into the prevailing trends and focal areas within urban mobility research. This aspect of the study is crucial in understanding the evolution of the field and its current priorities and challenges. Despite the notable contributions from certain regions and specialized researchers, the study identifies a significant gap in current research. This gap could potentially be addressed through enhanced international collaborations. Such collaborations would bring together diverse perspectives, resources, and expertise, thereby enriching the field of urban mobility and leading to more comprehensive and effective solutions. The article underscores the importance of collaborative and technological strategies in fostering sustainable urban environments. These strategies are in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the global relevance and impact of the study. The integration of technology in urban mobility solutions is not just a matter of convenience but a necessary evolution towards creating sustainable, efficient, and equitable urban spaces. The document discusses potential future research directions and the practical implications of its findings for academics, professionals, policymakers, and urban planners. The significance of the study in shaping public policies and strategic decisions in urban planning is particularly emphasized, reflecting the real-world impact and applicability of the research. In the synthesis of "Urban, Shared Mobility and Mobility as A Service: A Bibliometric Review," the evolution of urban mobility research is meticulously chronicled, highlighting its progression in response to urban growth, sustainability, efficiency, and equity. The bibliometric review, spanning literature from 1966 to 2023, underlines a robust growth in scholarly interest and the emergence of transformative models like Mobility as a Service (MaaS). MaaS represents a paradigm shift toward seamless, multimodal transport solutions, empowered by digital innovations, which are imperative in addressing the current urban mobility challenges. The study's comprehensive analysis proves invaluable for stakeholders, providing insights that are vital for fostering sustainable, effective, and inclusive transportation systems. Furthermore, it reveals a research gap, advocating for international cooperation to deepen the field's knowledge. By aligning its findings with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the research emphasizes the global significance of urban mobility and its instrumental role in shaping future urban planning and policy. This synthesis is a clarion call for collaborative, technology-driven strategies that ensure urban mobility systems evolve into more sustainable and accessible structures for all.
